VW Campervan Before-After

At CamperKing, we offer the complete end-to-end process with every VW campervan that we have available.

Whether specifying the van yourself or buying a campervan from our forecourt, you can be assured that all aspects of the campervan’s conversion has been undertaken in-house and by ourselves. We are not just a campervan dealer and converter, we are a campervan manufacturer.

Every campervan available from us begins its journey as a VW Transporter van. Whether the van is sourced by us or provided by you, the selection of the right van is crucial in order for you to end up with the right campervan.

When sourcing a van ourselves, we will ensure:

  • That the van has had a full health and background check
  • That the van is in excellent mechanical condition
  • That all vehicle documentation is in order

Configuring your campervan

Configuration Lounge

Every CamperKing campervan build begins by choosing the initial specification. With thousands of combinations available, this takes into account a range of different aspects. These include the engine size, transmission, and wheelbase of the base vehicle, plus the colour of the furniture, flooring, and seating.

Configuration will either take place in the on-site configuration lounge at our HQ in Banbury, using our online vehicle configurator, or at one of our 17 dealerships across the UK. This will either be done by you, by one of our dealers, or by us if we’re building a campervan for sale in our showroom.

Configuration really is an opportunity to express your personality and truly make your campervan your own.

Conversion into a camper

Conversion into a campervan

All CamperKing campervans for sale will have been custom built to an exact specification at our dedicated production facility in Kineton, Warwickshire. Located just a short distance away from our HQ in Warmington near Banbury, it is here that all aspects of the conversion take place.

The first area of conversion is to prepare the vehicle shell. We strip out the existing interior, fit our templates and remove the panels that we are going to replace.

Once cut out, all areas are smoothed to a softer finish, then the windows and support structures for the roof are installed. Once everything has been set and bonded, we finish the roof structure and fit our pop-top roof.

Upon completion, everything is adjusted and then water tested to ensure it functions correctly. All that remains is a full carpet installation and floor fitment ready for the next stage.

With your interior specification chosen already and your furniture pre-prepared, the completed shell arrives with the fitting team. The role of the fitting team is to install the cupboard furniture, and the gas, and electrical components. This is the most intricate part of the build process, so plenty of testing is involved.

It’s now time to fit the M1 pull-tested bed, which also involves fitting a chassis spreader bar. This is heavy work and keeps the team in good shape!

Accessorising your campervan

Campervan accessories
With the campervan starting to take shape, it’s time to add the finishing touches. With a range of accessories available, these are the items to add to really set your campervan apart from others.

Upgrades and accessories available for your campervan include solar panels, side bars, suspension kits, and wheel upgrades.

Whilst accessorising takes place at this stage of the build process, don’t worry if you haven’t added everything you think you might like as all of our campervans are built to allow for retrospective upgrades.

Quality control and testing

Quality control
Once the campervan has been built, we go back to the beginning and cross-reference all the build instructions to ensure that we have everything correctly selected. We then test every aspect of the conversion including the gas systems, electricity systems, and the furniture. This will see us popping pop-tops, pulling out beds, and opening and closing cupboards and drawers to ensure that everything works exactly as it should.

We will then issue a habitation certificate for the vehicle. To receive this the vehicle will be required to pass gas testing, electrical performance tests, and water system tests.

Once we are satisfied, the campervan will be ready to receive our warranty and will be made available for its final valet.
